Landsend Saturday open 19/6/21

First time out for three weeks for various reason, including a fab weekend down at Torquay in the caravan, so was looking forward to wetting a line. 20 booked in today so we were having two ten peggers across lakes two and three. Into the draw bucket and peg 8 sticks to my fingers. Didn’t mind that. Always done ok from there. For company I had Steve Leaf Blower Seager to my right on 11, and Rich Stanislav Major on 5. And And Russ Compo Peck on 3, so a quid bet was agreed, fishing his first match since his sponsorship by some dodgy float company called BJ Floaters or something. Banter levels were further increased with Rod Silverback Wootton and Dave without an E Ings opposite. And to be honest I would have paid the peg fee today just to listen to the wise cracking that was going on. We was laughing all day thanks to Richard who was doing his best impression of Frank Spencer. If it could go wrong for him it did much to our amusement. Back to the fishing. Started of well tight across on pellet catching silvers on my supposed carp line, but it was fish in the net as most were struggling a bit. But the carp didn’t play ball. After two hours I had most of my silvers and one carp. Dave was flying on the silvers but they died for him when the carp turned up and he spent the rest of the day hooking and releasing carp. Tourette’s levels were high. Gary flinders was caching regularly and was looking like the one to beat. My silvers line at 8m didn’t produce much. Nor did my meat line. Last two hours picked up and I picked off the odd carp across, but I lost a few in the reed bed. Rod started to catch well as did Compo, though he was saying all his fish were small. Rich did his best to drag the island in, hooking it every other drop in. We didn’t laught to much. I lost an elastic, rich was chewing up rigs and Russ snapped his pole. It was carnage our side. But we were all laughing about it. At the end, Gary won the lake as we thought with 94-11, but it was very close with Russ weighing 94-3. Small fish my arse. Rod had 80-2 for third and I managed 59-3 including 15- 10 of silvers. Steve Lane who I couldn’t see on peg 13 won the silvers with 32-00. Lake three was won by Compos butler Adrian Clark on peg 70 with 81-14, and Dave Beany Westcott won the silver with a nice net of 28-14 from 41.
